The concept model:
Coco-B Design is a UK owned company with a head office in Dongguan China, which has been founded to create a synergy between two changing landscapes in the footwear manufacturing and retail sectors. The first was the need for smaller to medium sized, footwear brands to be able to compete in the increasingly global market place where the bigger players utilise their huge resources to develop new product featuring new technologies, production methods and advanced materials. The second was to seize the services of the smaller, more agile factories that were appearing in the Dongguan area, after the larger factories had relocated to other parts of China.
With prices increasing, these factories were eager and willing to find new, higher-level, brands to work with and within these new factories were the skillsets to develop great product, on a par with any of the large brands.
From the beginning Coco-B realised that key to producing product with a high level of attention to detail that contemporary brands require is; good communication between the brands and the factory, a solid understanding of the market and trends and a hands on approach to product development and quality control.
Now, five years on, Coco-B is producing diverse ranges of product for some of the most demanding brands and retailers in the UK.
The service:
The costs involved in developing new product ranges, every season, can be extensive so we provide the expertise in product development, technical knowhow and production techniques, so the brand does not have to either employ a huge footwear team, or spend money constantly sending staff to Asia to take care of the various product development stages and production demands.
Our offices in Dongguan, contain a full development center which enable us to go from CAD to prototype within hours and final samples can be executed to the smallest detail, as we are not dependent on the time and resources of our factories.
Logistics:
Coco-B is actually a group of three companies: Co-Co-B Design Ltd, Co-Co-B Design Hong Kong Limited and Dongguan Orange Trading Company Limited. Within these three entities is another crucial part of our overall service, which is the ability to meet each customers packing, shipping and delivery requirements.
We have an office in the UK, which specifically deals with all orders placed on DDP terms, ensuring the product is delivered on time and without hassle for the customer.
In 2015, we established a WFOE (Wholly Foreign Owned Enterprise) company within the mainland of China. One the benefits of the mainland company are that we are able to ship product directly to our customers, who are creating business within China, without the usual exporting out to Hong Kong and then reimporting to the Chinese partner, therefore, saving time and money.
The Quality Assurance:
We take a hands-on approach to the quality control
- We have one of our own QC team stationed within each factory we work with, which helps ensure that the shoes being packed and shipped are of the correct quality.
- We do not allow short shipments or more than 5% of total volume and our factories are contracted to remake any rejected shoes to fulfill the complete order.
- We work with Bureau Veritas on component testing to help ensure there are no unforeseen issues with selected materials and components.
- We carry out our own production AQL inspections but we also work with Intertek for 3rd party AQL inspection reports on larger orders.
